How does grout help increase the aesthetics of living space?

Grout is one of the outstanding products that are indispensable in construction today. This is a specialized product line with the ability to enhance the overall beauty of each family's living space.

1. What is grout? Important role in interior construction

1.1 What is grout?

Grout is an indispensable material in tile laying works. It helps fill the gaps between tiles, ensuring the durability and aesthetics of the floor or wall. Instead of using traditional white cement, grout brings many outstanding advantages in terms of waterproofing, antibacterial ability and high durability.

Grout also acts as a "shield" to protect tiles from environmental factors such as water, dirt and cleaning chemicals. With the ability to resist mold and dirt, modern grout brings durability and cleanliness to every project.

1.2 Important role in interior construction
Grout is not only a technical solution but also an important aesthetic factor. Using grout properly can make your living space more modern and luxurious.

1. High surface gloss, no shrinkage, no cracking
Modern grout is designed to create a smooth, glossy grout surface. Unlike traditional materials such as white cement, grout does not shrink or crack over time. This is important to ensure that the tile joints always maintain their original strength and beauty, even when exposed to environmental and temperature changes.

2. Good adhesion to tiles, natural and artificial stones
The superior adhesion of grout helps it work effectively with a variety of materials, from ceramic tiles, glass tiles to natural or artificial stones. This versatility makes it easy for users to apply grout for interior and exterior projects.

In particular, in spaces such as living rooms or gardens, where natural stone is often used to create highlights, grout acts as a perfect bridge, not only increasing aesthetics but also ensuring long-term durability for the project.

3. High waterproofing
The waterproofing ability of grout is one of the factors designed to prevent water from penetrating through the tile joints, thereby protecting the underlying structure from the risk of damage due to moisture.

This feature is especially important for areas with high humidity such as kitchens and bathrooms. In addition, grout can also withstand the impact of harsh environments such as erratic rain and sun or exposure to cleaning chemicals, helping to maintain the beauty and quality of the project.

4. Antibacterial, anti-fouling and mold

Grout not only protects technically but also contributes to hygiene. With antibacterial and anti-fouling properties, grout helps prevent moss, mold or harmful bacteria from growing in the tile joints.

Helps maintain a shiny surface without the need for frequent cleaning. This not only saves time and effort for the homeowner in the future.

2. How to choose the right grout for your space

When choosing a grout, it is important to consider the type of tile and the characteristics of the space used. Here are some tips to help you make the right decision:

1. Based on the type of tile
Grout offers products suitable for different types of flooring materials. Ceramic tiles usually require a medium-strength adhesive, so they need a tile grout, while natural stone requires a higher-strength adhesive and needs to choose the right type of adhesive.

2. Based on the space
Areas such as bathrooms and kitchens that are often exposed to water and grease need to use a good waterproof adhesive to prevent water from penetrating.

3. Apply grout properly for optimal results

To achieve the best results when using grout, you need to follow these steps:

1. Prepare the tile surface: Make sure the tile adhesive on the surface is completely dry (usually after 24 hours) before grouting. Remove any dirt or grease and moisten but not leave water in the joints so that the adhesive can adhere better.

2. Mixing grout
When mixing grout, follow the ratio as instructed by the manufacturer on the packaging. Add about 0.35 - 0.4 liters of water to the mixing tank first, then add 1kg of grout and mix well. In case of mixing by hand, use a spoon to mix thoroughly for 5-7 minutes for a uniform mixture. Before construction, mix the grout again for 2-3 minutes and then start construction.

3. Apply the glue
Use a specialized tool, a rubber trowel, to apply it, hold it at a 450 angle, and rub the glue mixture diagonally to spread the glue mixture deep into the joints, making sure that all joints are filled with the glue mixture.

After the second rub, hold the rubber trowel at a 900 angle, use the edge of the rubber trowel to remove excess glue on the tile surface, rub diagonally to avoid pulling the glue out of the grout. Use a damp sponge or damp cloth to clean the glue on the tile surface and smooth the glue surface in the grout. After about 5 hours, use a damp sponge or damp cloth to clean a second time to remove the glue on the tile surface and moisten the grout.

4. Why LEMAN grout is a smart choice for construction

LEMAN grout is a product line designed based on the technical specifications of TCVN 7899-4 standard. This product ensures good response in terms of both durability and aesthetics, becoming a smart choice for all projects.

1. High abrasion resistance (< 2000 mm³ according to TCVN 7899-4)

LEMAN grout has an abrasion resistance lower than 2000 mm³, an important index that ensures the durability of the surface of the grout against the impact of friction.

This is especially important in areas with high traffic such as hallways, living rooms or commercial buildings. With high abrasion resistance, LEMAN grout not only helps protect tile joints but also maintains long-term aesthetics, even in harsh environments.

2. Flexural strength under standard conditions (> 2.5 N/mm² according to TCVN 7899-4)

The higher flexural strength of 2.5 N/mm² helps LEMAN grout withstand pressure when the tile surface is slightly deformed or when there is an external force.

This makes the product an ideal choice for areas requiring high mechanical strength, such as gardens or places that are often subjected to heavy loads.

3. Low shrinkage (< 3 mm/m according to TCVN 7899-4)

Low shrinkage ensures that the grout retains its original size and shape after installation. This helps to avoid gaps between tiles, reducing the risk of water seepage. This feature is very important for areas such as kitchens and bathrooms.

4. Low water absorption

LEMAN waterproof grout has a low water absorption, after 30 minutes: < 5g and after 240 minutes < 10g. helps prevent water from penetrating into the tile joints. This is especially useful in protecting the structure from the risk of mold, yellowing or damage due to moisture. This is the perfect solution for spaces such as swimming pools, bathrooms or any area that is exposed to a lot of water.

5. Outstanding compressive strength

Under standard conditions, the high compressive strength of LEMAN grout > 15 N/mm² ensures that the joints can withstand great pressure without being damaged. This is especially important in public works or areas with high traffic density.
